Prepare to get your ocular diabetes on by joining Cotton Candy Couture for An Evening of Eye Candy on Thursday, April 12^th! Before I continue I must apologize for posting yet another event that deceptively reads like an invitation to a strip club. If you’re looking for candy-flavored edible g-strings (crack licorice?), you’re barking up the wrong tree. If you want to preview a new collection of colorful dresses while munching on sweet treats and candy-flavored cocktails, this is the event for you! As a special treat (awesome pun intended) guests will receive complimentary lash application treatments from Epoch Salon! Maybe they can give me the Anthony Davis special (see below)!

Guests are invited to bring any dresses or accessory (purse or shoes) that could be considered prom-worthy; these donations will benefit The Glass Slipper Project, a non-profit organization that provides free prom dresses and accessories to Chicagoland juniors and seniors.  One lucky donor will be selected to receive a complimentary “Original Edit” service, in which Cotton Candy Couture will re-work an old dress into something entirely new!*As an added bonus, Uber, the on-demand private driver service, will be offering guests 50% off rides from the event.

It's scotch tasting season again and The Johnnie Walker House of Walker Experience is coming back with a vengeance! Well, not really, but that made it sound more exciting, right? The Two of a Kind Couples Shopping event is going down on Thursday, March 29th at Mark Shale at the 900 North Michigan Shops. Check out the hottest new spring trends like boot cut cargo carpenter capries and floral print yoga gloves. This event includes complimentary Stella Artois, appetizers, his and her cocktails from Pour Souls Mixology and mini-treatments from Beauty on Call. 10% of all proceeds will go to DIFFA Chicago (The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS).

Jeans and Jams Big Ten Fashion Show

As part of Bloomingdale's Denim Days models representing Big Ten schools will model the latest designer denim trends at Bloomingdale's on North Michigan on Thursday, March 15th. This shopping event will also include complimentary drinks, appetizers, and plenty of March Madness for your viewing pleasure! Ten percent of all purchases will benefit Chicago's public school children. Additionally the after party will take place at Bull & Bear. I'm not a big fan of that particular River North establishment due to the five-star douchery that it attracts, but it might be worth checking out.

SXSW Sub Pop Showcase

SXSW music festival is currently taking place in Austin right now, but if you’re not cool enough to mess with Texas, you’re probably going to miss it. Or will you?! Darkroom will be live streaming the Sub Pop SXSW Records Showcase on Friday, March 16th! The show will feature Niki & the Dove, Spoek Mathambo, THEESatisfaction and other bands whose names confuse the hell out of spell check. Additionally DJ Boy Wonder and Jon Huang will be on the turntables in house to keep the party going in between sets. Last, but not least, complimentary food will be provided by local food trucks (The Slide Ride, 5411 Empanadas and Cupcakes for Courage) along with an OPEN BAR!

Before you get too excited you should know that there is a small caveat. The flyer reads:

Admission is free and exclusive to MasterCard cardholders (credit, debit or reloadable prepaid) and PayPass-device holders (debit or credit card, key fob, sticker, or Google Wallet Nexus S 4G phone).

I could be mistaken, but it appears that you'll be required to present some type of MasterCard card or device to get into this event. Or perhaps you can get in without a MasterCard as long as you RSVP, but you'll only receive VIP treatment if you have a PayPass-enabled device or Google Wallet on your phone? Figure it out and let me know. I'm too lazy important to inquire further.
